Management Team

Paul Negus – Managing Director
Paul has over 25 years experience in Engineering, which began with a four year apprenticeship at the R.A.E (Royal Aircraft Establishment). He joined Alan Sefton at Pearpoint in 1988 as a Design Engineer growing with the company into numerous roles namely Production Engineer, Production Manager, and Sales Manager. Upon completing an MBA at Henley Management College he was made Director and General Manager of Pearpoint. When the Pearpoint business was sold to SPX in 2000 Paul stayed on to develop his career within the substantial Global Corporation. Paul became Sales Director of the Radiodetection Group working on a number of global assignments. In January 2004 he joined PIPS Technology Ltd as Managing Director. In the two years he has been back with the company it has been recognised with The Queens Award for Innovation, the Hampshire Business Award for Innovation and the British Computer Society Technology Award and PIPS latest contract win in excess of £5 million.

Dr Brian Smith – Technical Director
Brian joined Pearpoint Ltd as Technical Director in 1993 and spearheaded the development of a 34 piece range of explosion-proof CCTV camera, tractor and light-head products for use in hazardous environments. He developed the traffic camera business and produced the ‘Blue roadside ANPR camera’ for Trafficmaster, achieving over 5000 sales. Brian architected the 4channel P357 roadside ANPR recogniser with a novel hardware real-time platefinder (patent awarded). On the sale of Pearpoint he became a founding director of PIPS Technology Ltd in 2002 where within a month of start-up PIPS were awarded the TCC ANPR contract for the provision of the ‘Green roadside ANPR camera’ with roadside recognition. The P362 was then developed as the first dual IR/Colour ANPR camera for mobile applications and since it has become the standard fit for police cars nationally. The P372 ‘Spike’ integrated ANPR recogniser/camera (patent applied) is a world first in the ANPR industry.

Phil Ingram – Operations Manager
Phil held the role of Technical Manager at PIPS Technology before transferring to Operations Manager. Phil is responsible for both development, product delivery into manufacturing and process engineering and was prevalent in the business gaining ISO accreditation. Phil’s career path included time as a real time Hardware and software development engineer developing industrial recording, replay and analysis systems for financial, Air Traffic control, Military and Public Safety applications.
