PIPS provides Sintel Italia with SpikeHD cameras

21st Jan 2010
PIPS Technology has provided the Italian systems integrator, Sintel Italia, with over 200 of their P382 SpikeHD cameras. The cameras have been installed to provide ANPR as part of the a larger CCTV based Homeland Security installation for the Reggio Campania and Calabria regions of Italy.

The SpikeHD camera will not only capture and read the license plates of regular cars and commercial vehicles, but will also capture and read the license plates of motorbikes and mopeds.

The ANPR system will provide license plate information to a central application, where comparison will be made against known vehicles of special interest. If a positive comparison is made, the user will be notified as a 'hit' and the CCTV system wil be used to track the vehicle.

PIPS SpikeHD camera was chosen due to the fact that it could provide single lane coverage, provide high performance in terms of correct reads and its ease of use and integration.

Mr Emanuele Polizzi, who is part of Sintel Italia's Technical Staff  said at the time of installation that he was "very impressed with the cameras; The installation of the cameras is very straight forward. The cameras that are already in place are working well and capturing more number plates than expected."

"PIPS Technology have produced a high quality product and delivered the cameras to us within a short time scale" said Mr Polizzi.

Paul Negus, Managing Director of PIPS Technology, has also spoken of his excitement of the Sintel project. "The SpikeHD camera is still a relatively new product on the market, so working with Sintel on this project has really given PIPS the chance to show how quickly such large orders can be turned around and how well the product can work, not only in the UK, but in other countries around the world".
