18th Dec 2006 According to the recently published IMS research report, award-winning PIPS Technology Ltd is the world's leading supplier of ANPR software and integrated devices, with a total share of 23.5% of the global market - more than double that of its nearest competitor.
'The World Market for Video Content Analysis and ANPR 2006 Edition' report was carried out by IMS, an independent research company that supplies market research to the electronics industry. It provides an in-depth analysis of the world ANPR market with supporting statistics and data.
"The leading supplier of ANPR software and integrated devices to the world market in 2005 was PIPS Technology. The company had an estimated market share of 23.5%, generated from sales of its software and integrated device solutions. PIPS' market share was more than double that of its nearest competitor".
The use of ANPR in the law enforcement sector is estimated to grow to 41% of the market, with traffic regulation applications such as traffic speed management and vehicle tax evasion driving this growth.
PIPS' Spike+ cameras are already being supplied to Siemens as part of a contract awarded by Transport for London, to provide an enforcement infrastructure for the western extension of the Central London Congestion Charging Scheme - a contract worth £5m to PIPS.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has also recently used 35 of PIPS' mobile ANPR systems to help catch the many thousands of motorists that do not tax their vehicles. Four of PIPS' P362 cameras are externally mounted to specially marked vans, which are connected to the onboard computer. Results from the number plate match are cross-checked with the DVLA computer database, revealing information of car tax evaders.
