Spike Portal

Forwarding of Secure plate and Image Data

The Spike Portal receives and processes information from outstations.  This information comprises:

Text Data
Number Plate Read, Date, Time, Location, Confidence of read

Image Data Plate Patch (extracted number plate image), Infrared Full image and colour overview image (Jpeg format).

The information is then stored using a relational database on the Portal server.  A web browser based interface enables users to monitor the state of cameras and to view the most recently captured images.  An optional module forwards data to the UK Police BOF2 system; in future, other modules such as export to Journey Time Systems will be added.

Provision can be built in to ensure that the data passed frfom PIPS cameras to the Portal will be encrypted using an encryption key generated on the Secure Portal and automatically changed at a configurable period.  The Portal will be responsible for the automatic generation and transmission of these keys.  The data passed from Portal to the various agencies could also be encrypted.

System Features:

  • Receipt of encrypted data from PIPS out-stations
  • Decryption and re-encryption of data and conversion to back-end server's input format
  • Forwarding of data to back-end servers for Police and Journey Time Management systems
  • Browser-based GUI to monitor the system
  • Automatic generation and transmission of unique encryption key pair for each camera
